Small groups

Burnside Blairbeth Church runs several small groups, usually involving about 10 people. Some groups meet for a series of meetings over a few weeks and address specific issues, while others meet regularly (usually fortnightly). The groups offer opportunities for bible study and prayer, but in addition allow people to get know each other better. The regular groups meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings and Friday morning, though times are liable to change according to membership of the groups. One of the groups meets in the church, but most meet in members' homes. Topics raised for prayer can lead to better understanding of others' needs, inside and outwith the groups, so groups often become a focus for the care of others.

We hope all who come to church will be interested in the small group activities - details of groups currently meeting are available from the church office, in Contact, or, almost certainly, from someone who sits near you at the church service! Changes to any regular meeting times are usually notified through the Weekly Notes."

The Guild

"Whose we are and Whom we serve"

Above is the Guild motto which is taken from Acts chapter 27, verse 23. The aim of the Guild is to invite and encourage men and women to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and to enable them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action. Every three years, a strategy is decided by the Guild and within that are three annual themes. The strategy for 2015—2018 is -  ' Be Bold, Be Strong'. Annual themes were introduced to encourage Guilds to plan their programmes more effectively.

At Burnside, Blairbeth, we meet every second Monday at 7-30pm in the main hall of the Burnside building, starting in October and continuing through till the end of March. Our committee work hard to prepare a varied and interesting syllabus with something to suit all tastes. We have two coffee mornings per year, Easter and Christmas and although fund raising is not an aim of the Guild, the efforts we make enable us to give practical help where required. We also have a Christmas celebration, Burn’s night, the occasional visit to the theatre and have been known to have some very successful themed tea parties.

Throughout the years we have been very well supported by members, male and female and hope to continue to appeal to a wide cross section of the congregation. We look forward to another year of inspiration, contemplation and downright fun.

Remember the Guild is open to all both ladies and gentlemen. Do come along and join us should something on our syllabus take your fancy. You can always be sure of a warm welcome and, of course, a cuppa and a chat with friends old and new.

The theme for this year at the Guild is 'Go in Love' and the syllabus can be found here

The Regnal Circle

The Regnal Circle is a meeting place for men. It meets fortnightly on Monday evenings from October to April in the Upper Hall at 7.30 pm

The evening commences with a Hymn, Bible Reading and Prayer followed by speakers on a wide range of subjects. The evening closes with fellowship, tea and coffee.

Our Circle at Burnside began in1975 and we would be delighted to see it grow.

The Circle is part of the Regnal League which was formed by Padre Donald Standfast in Rouen, Normandy after the Armistice of the First World War. Regnal means Reign of the King (Christ)

There are Regnal Circles throughout the UK - three in Scotland at Burnside Blairbeth, Bridgeton St. Francis, and Sidlaw near Dundee.

You will be made most welcome come along and try!
