Small groups

Burnside Blairbeth Church runs several small groups, usually involving about 10 - 12 people. These usually meet every two weeks during 'term time', in people's homes or in the church building. The groups offer opportunities for bible study and prayer, but in addition allow people to get know each other better.

Everyone and anyone can be involved in a small group - if you'd like to be, but aren't sure where to start, please contact the church office and someone will get back to you.

The Guild

The Church of Scotland Guild has been around for over 135 years and in all that time has been actively involved in congregations across Scotland and in God’s work across the wider world.

But what’s it all about?

God…..Faith is at the heart of all we do as the Guild and drives us to serve others and be the light of Christ in our communities. Our motto "Whose we are and Whom we serve" reminds us what we do.

United…..The Guild has always been at the forefront of pioneering work and, by working together, our joint projects have tackled issues such as HIV/Aids and homelessness. We are currently helping to equip a maternity hospital in Malawi and support persecuted Christians overseas.

Inclusive…..Everyone is welcome at the Guild. The Guild family is open to all in our community and has much to offer. Traditionally an organisation for women, we now welcome men!

Loving…..The care and support Guild members show to each other is heart-warming, whether you have been a member for years or just joining. A welcome, a phonecall, a cuppa, a card or a visit are all ways we keep in touch and show love to one another.

Dedicated…..Guild members across Scotland have raised £7 million since 1970 supporting the work of local churches and charities with a further £7 million to support Guild Projects at home and overseas. Through Coffee mornings, concerts and local giving, we try to express God’s love in action.

The work, worship, and focus of the Guild falls under a strategy, which for 2024-27 is ’Let us build a house’, and within that our theme for 2026-27 is 'Beyond the walls', encouraging us to reach out to those in our communities and beyond.

Burnside Blairbeth, we meet every second Monday at 2.00 pm from October to March with a varied syllabus and something to suit all tastes. We also organise occasional coffee mornings, concerts or special events and, although fund raising is not our main aim, these enable us to support Guild Projects and give practical and spiritual help to folks in desperate need. Social gatherings such as a Christmas lunch or Scottish afternoon give us the opportunity to establish new friendships and have fun together.

What do members say about the Guild?

“I’ve met new people since moving to the area” “It’s fellowship, fun and a feel good factor”

“It challenges me to help others” “We support each other” “An opportunity to serve”

New members always welcome!
